History Of Motorized Scooters
July 21, 2008 – 2:10 pmIn the USA the Harley Davidson topper motorized scooters was first produced in 60 then kept being produced all the way to the year 1965. It actually had a sick fiberglass body and a pull cord to start the mechanism very similar to any lawn device such as a blower, weed eater or anything else. I think during those times most of the motorized scooters were started this way which is very cool. The topper had a 165 cc gas motor which had been taken from germany in a war reparations deal. It only went 40 mph and had no good braking system which made this type of motorized scooters very dangerous. During the time of its initiation it ony had a very few units that sold. Harley has not really produced a very man other motorized scooters but actually has some smaller ones in production such as shortster and the sprint.
In england in 62 the Triumph Tigress was a sick luxury motorized scooter with a performance handling level like no other it actually was about as good as a motorcycle, drawing on Triumphs long time standing time with building faster motorcycles that lean into turns with the quickness of sickness. It was sold with a 175 cc 2 stroke engine and some versions had the 250 cc 4 stroke twin.
